The Bible
Get to know what it means to follow Jesus each day by reading the Bible. Begin with of the four Gospel (Matthew, Mark, Luke, or John). Put yourself in the stories and think of yourself as one of Jesus’ disciples. If you don't own a Bible, please contact our office and we will make sure you have a copy. You can also download the YouVersion Bible App free on your smartphone and read along or start a Bible Reading Plan.
Prayer
Prayer is talking to God, knowing that He is now your Father and Friend. Thank Him for what He has done, and give Him praise for who He is. Spend time in prayer on your own and pray and listen with others in community. God speaks to us as we pray.
Community
It's time to meet others who are followers of Jesus too (this is the meaning of the word, Christian.). Find a church like the High River Alliance Church where you can learn, love, be loved, and grow in your faith. A great way to connect with others is to attend our weekend services or join one of our small groups.
Baptism and Communion
Now that you have become a follower of Jesus there are two important ways to affirm your faith. The first is Baptism. Baptism is a symbol of what it means to identify yourself with Jesus in His death and resurrection. (See Romans 6:3-7 and following) Since you are only baptized once, take your time to understand what it really means.
The second way to affirm your faith is by participating in Communion – eating a piece of bread and drinking a small glass of grape juice (symbolizing Jesus’ body and blood) when this is offered in a worship service at church (See 1 Corinthians 11:23 - 26). For more information, talk to another Christian, an Elder in the church, or a Pastor about taking these next steps.
